croup is a viral infection and it is a parainfluenza virus. this virus effects mostly children between 6 months and 3 years of age and rarely occur above 6 years age of children. children get this virus through respiratory droplets by coughing or sneezing in air. the virus can also survive on surfaces i.e. toys and infected hand when touches mouth, nose or eyes can cause croup.
