The common cause of salmonella contamination in food is feces. Following are the ways by which salmonella can enter food:
From meat . During the primary step of meat slaughtering , raw meat might get contaminated with feces. And the fish can also be contaminated if they are taken out of contaminated waters .
eggs. The chickens that are infected with salmonella will produce eggs with salmonella already in it. And these eggs might be used further for the production of many other home made food items.
Fruits and vegetables. A food item can get contaminated with water that carries salmonella in it. This might also occur if the juices from contaminated raw meat enters into the foods like salads.
FDA has approved that spices may also get contaminated with salmonella .
Improper washing of hands may also lead to food contamination.
