There are two methods that are responsible for the entry of salmonella into chicks. The methods are as follows.
from eggs:
This is the common transmission method for entry. In this method, the mother hen is responsible for the entry of salmonella into eggs. Mother hen gets the infection from the contaminated feces. Contaminated feces transmit the bacteria into a healthy hen. Bacteria cause the reproductive tract infection of the layers. These species cause severe infection in ovaries of a hen. If hen ovaries are infected by salmonella, bacteria get chance to enter into the eggs. Ovaries transmit bacteria into the egg. The egg develops into chicks and chicks develop the infection.
Indirect method:
In this method, chicks develop bacteria from the environment. The environment contaminated with fecal material transmits the bacteria to chicks. In this method, there is no mother hen involvement, and food contaminated with bacteria or environment causes the infection in chicks. Chicks with the weak immune system are more prone to the development of disease.
