Salmonella is notorious due to it’s ability to cause food poisoning but some studies have shown that salmonella has a use in the treatment of cancer patients.
According to the studies by the researchers of Yale institute of medicine , Salmonella can fight against melanoma , with or without thr radiations . They find a non toxin strain of salmonella and inject that strain against the melanoma in the mice. It helps these mice to suppress but not eliminate the cancerous melanoma completely.
Salmonella alone can stop the growth of the cancerous cells for up to three weeks. And with the reinforcement of radiations the effect might get longer then six weeks.
This technique was first developed by a New york surgeon Dr. William B. Coley, whose work lead future oncologists in the field of oncology.
