No, E. coli is not acid-fast. Acid-fast bacteria, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, have a unique cell wall structure that allows them to retain a special dye called carbol fuchsin even when treated with acid-alcohol solutions. This property helps in their identification under the microscope. However, E. coli and many other common bacteria do not possess this characteristic cell wall structure, so they are not acid-fast.
