As of my last update, there isn’t a vaccine specifically designed to prevent infections caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria. E. coli infections are diverse and can range from mild gastrointestinal illness to severe urinary tract infections and bloodstream infections. However, researchers are actively exploring potential vaccine candidates to target specific strains of E. coli that cause serious illnesses. Vaccines may be developed to target certain virulence factors or surface antigens of E. coli to stimulate the immune system to produce protective antibodies. While progress is being made, developing an effective and safe vaccine for E. coli infections remains a challenging task.
