Hello, I am a high school student majoring in biology.
I had a question about Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.
I read everywhere that this bacterium is bacillus, but according to its name, it seems to be cocci
I’m a little confused and I can’t convince my teacher
Does the term “bacillus” here differ from the appearance of rod-shaped bacteria? Or do other components besides the shape indicate that it is a bacillus?
