those bacteria called Aerobic bacteria. They need oxygen in order to survive and show their metabolic activity as well. aerobic bacteria has fluroprotein in mitochondria which convert the aerobic oxygen into hydrogen peroxide and super radicals.. these 2 components ( hydrogen peroxide and super radicals ) are very toxic for the bacteria and cause bacterial death by lowering the ph.. so the aerobic bacteria can convert this H2O2 into H2O and O2 with the help of catalase enzyme… so in short, Catalase enzyme help this to survive in the presence of oxygen…
