Yes, it is possible to contract salmonella from eggs if they are contaminated with the bacteria. Salmonella can be present on the outer shell of eggs as well as inside the egg if the hen that laid it was infected. Consuming raw or undercooked eggs increases the risk of salmonella infection. To reduce this risk, it’s recommended to cook eggs thoroughly until both the white and yolk are firm, and to store eggs properly in the refrigerator to prevent bacterial growth.
