Escherichia coli causes nitrites in urine. Nitrites are the byproducts of nitrogen waste. Healthy urine contain nitrates. Bacteria feed on this waste and covert nitrates into nitrites that appears in urine. This appearance in urine is known as nitrituria. Urinary Tract Infections are most common cause of nitrituria.
