    yes bacteria are prokaryotes as they have prokaryotic cell. these are simple, single celled organisms that lack double membrane bound organelles like mitochondria, chloroplast and enveloped nucleus. bacterial genome is in the nucleoid that contains genomic DNA, RNA molecules and proteins. they have single chromosome consisting double stranded, circular DNA present in the cytoplasm so bacteria are haploid. bacteria have cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes (70S) and plasmids.
