    bacteria have both DNA and RNA. bacterial nucleoid is associated with proteins and RNA. bacteria have haploid genome consisting of single chromosome having double stranded DNA molecule. the RNA may only be a transcript (template for protein translation). the DNA of bacteria is present in a single, circular bacterial chromosome.
    bacteria also have small circular DNA molecules known as plasmids. these are extra chromosomal, double stranded DNA molecules that are self replicating.
