    wash onions properly before use and remove upper covering that can be contaminated with the field’s soil containing contaminated fertilizer. cooking onions at high temperature i.e. at 150 degrees F or 65 degrees or above can kill bacteria. if you want to consume raw onion give it an acid treatment i.e. submerge onions in vinegar or lemon solution for sometime.
