    Mitochondria is not a bacteria rather it is a double membrane bound organelle found in the eukaryotic cells. It is absent in prokaryotes (bacteria), although it is beleived that mitochondria may evolved from the primitive bacteria. Mitochondria is known as the powerhouse of the eukaryotic cells.
