Capsules are the outmost structures of bacterial and fungal cells. The capsules protect microbial cells from immune recognition and killing during infection of mammalian hosts.
capsule is the the outer most, polysaccharide layer of micro organisms (outside cell envelope) i.e. bacteria and fungi. this structure protect the microorganism from immune cells of host hence it is involved in the pathogenicity of bacteria. it also helps in adhesion of bacteria to the surfaces and interaction with other organisms.
