Traditionally textbooks placed all bacteria in the Kingdom *Monera*.
Since the 1990s we mostly use the three‑domain system instead of the old five‑kingdom model. In that newer scheme bacteria are given their own Domain called *Bacteria* (sometimes called *Eubacteria*) and the word “kingdom” is usually skipped for them.
So if your teacher still follows the older Whittaker five‑kingdom outline, the answer is Monera. If they follow the modern molecular tree the correct answer is simply that bacteria belong to the Domain Bacteria rather than a classical kingdom.
