If a virus has not entered a host, is it considered non-living?

    yes. In case of viruses, they need the cell machinary in order to increase their number and to infect the host.. without cells they are unabe to cause the infection they must require living host..

    and it’s considered as non-living untill or unless virus has not entered the host body and even don’t enter their target site as well… this is because of the following factors i.e:

    *no reproduction outside the cell because of the lack of metabolism and metabolic activity

    *lack cellular respiration and cellular enzymes etc.

    so, in order to show their function they must need a living host like(host cells, cell line, embroyonated egg)
